The world has shrunk, and since the last Fluorit-extraLapis issue around 15 years ago, there have been countless new finds from old and new—at the time, unknown—locations, yielding exceptional fluorites of unprecedented quality and formation. Pink fluorites of consummate perfection and quality only hint at why crystal hunters on Mont Blanc repeatedly risk their lives for these unique treasures. But it's not just from the Alps that we've received new and incredible finds in recent years—China, in particular, has shown us that it has far more to offer than "just" green fluorites. Whether deep green eye fluorites from a new find in Namibia or orange-red spheres from India, it seems that there are no limits to the shapes and colors of fluorite in the future. This is probably also one reason why fluorite has transformed over the years into an exclusive and highly sought-after collector's mineral. Currently, fluorite—along with gold—is probably the most valuable mineral found in the Alps!
