The term "zeolite" was coined by Cronstedt in 1756 and means "boiling stones." At the beginning of the 21st century, zeolite—or rather, zeolites—have entered our everyday lives. They are now found in detergents, play a crucial role as catalysts in gasoline production, and are an essential component in such mundane items as cat litter—in short, they are indispensable in our modern world. Zeolites are highly sought after by collectors—in every respect. Some are prized for their rarity, but most for their unique aesthetic appeal. Natural zeolites often form magnificent crystals. The finest examples can be found in this monograph. Published in 2007.
